fall from grace

CMs

THE former BJP Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh are in a precarious position, and have been since the 2018 assembly elections. After denying them the post of the opposition leader in their respective states, as reported in media, all three–Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Dr. Raman Singh–have been appointed as Vice-Presidents of Central BJP, but all three don’t have any work allotted by the party. All three have categorically stated they are not interested in national politics. Shivraj Singh Chouhan indicating the possibility of being nominated as Lok Sabha candidate from Bhopal said, “It is my view that I should not contest the (Lok Sabha) election. It has been just four months since I contested the state assembly elections. Now there’s an election again. What is the necessity for me to contest it?” The BJP has to win in the Hindi heartland by all means but observing the annoyance and the way the trio have been sidelined in the party, sources disclosed that it is unlikely they will be participating in the general elections with full zeal and enthusiasm. If the trio is not handled with by the top party bosses with care and due respect, Chhattisgarh, MP and Rajasthan may have eye-opening results.
