WATCH out for former cricketer, television personality and politician Navjot Singh Sidhu. The historic Kartarpur Corridor connecting Dera Baba Nanak shrine in India’s Punjab with Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur in Pakistan has established Sidhu not only as a leader of Sikhs but as a prolific speaker. His 15-minute speech at Kartarpur in the presence of Pakistani Prime Minister and his friend Imran Khan has already gone viral on social media. Sidhu used the opportunity to praise Imran Khan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi before former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister of Punjab Amrinder Singh. Sidhu and Amrinder Singh are known to be at logger heads with each other. Amrinder knows Sidhu has a direct line with the top leadership of the Congress Party, viz Priyanaka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Robert Vadra and Sonia Gandhi. Yet, Sidhu has been completely sidelined in Punjab. Fast paced Sidhu can’t remain static and silent. Sources disclosed that the BJP’s top leadership is in touch with Sidhu and they want to establish Sidhu as the face of the BJP in Punjab. Sidhu does not have any adversary in the party after the demise of former finance minister Arun Jaitley. Sidhu is a Jat Sikh, born and brought up in Patila. He has a tremendous network among Sikh and non-Sikhs alike. If he becomes little serious, no party has a leader in Punjab like him. It is to be seen how and when the chameleon Sidhu changes track and joins the BJP and hold the reins of Punjab.
