North Block houses the Finance Ministry on one side and the Home Ministry on the other side. The atmosphere of both the ministries is very different. There is a buzz in the Home Ministry since Amit Shah has taken over as Home Minister. Amit Shah does not interfere in the appointments of senior civil servants not only for his ministry but other ministries also. He doesn’t even entertain recommendations from his party men on transfers and postings. Amit Shah has put most of the civil servants on toes as far as work is concerned. Unlike his predecessor Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah knows the importance of media. He has fixed two days to interact with the media in the ministry where he not only briefs journalists but feeds some juicy stories to some scribes. Shah duly answers questions relating to the PMO in his own inimitable style. If one observes national news papers, the day after the abrogation of Article 370, all papers were full of praise for Amit Shah and how he moved the bill in the Rajya Sabha and turned the tables. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh should learn the art of how to keep the media in good humour rather put restrictions and ban their entry.
