Donald Trump makes a stunning comeback for a 2nd term

Trump: President Elect

Donald Trump makes a stunning comeback for a 2nd term of his presidency that he lost in 2020 to Biden and defeats his nominee Kamala Harris by 279 votes in the electoral college to 223 to win the 2024 Presidency for another four years – Trump had three shots at his presidency – Won the first in 2016, lost the 2nd in 2020 and won the third in 2024 – His make America great Again campaign based on Bidens alleged failed economy resonates with voters across the aisles as also the immigrant problem

Trump: President Elect

Donald Trump virtually scripted a historic win the 2024 US Presidential elections defeating close rival of the democratic party Kamala Harris in the electoral college by 279 votes to 223 votes thus becoming the first past president to win the 2nd non-consecutive term carrying a litany of legal cases that drained his campaign finances, made donors edgy, liberals in the party to keep their distance from him and survived two assassination attempts.
His mentor Roy Cohn’s tutoring him of delivering a “counterpunch” and a “Never Say Die Again” and his indefatigable spirt against a mountain of legal cases ranging from cancellation of his license for five years to practice in his turf New Yorks Manhattan for being rapped for tax fraud, sued for libel by author Jean E Carrol, and to top it all charges of conspiracy to overturn an 81% popular vote and fully legal verdict that put Biden in White House, got him the 2nd term.

Trust deficit

Throughout the year of 2023 to 2024 he had been preparing an election campaign based on his drumming a unproven allegation that Biden had stolen the election, that he was a “thug” a “criminal”, got derailed when Biden dropped out of the race midway under pressure from democratic peers and nominated his deputy VP Kamala Harris into the race. He had no plans B for countering a clean Harris and lost his steam when she closed the gap and surged ahead by 5% points after a spectacular DNC at Chicago that confirmed her nomination with three presidents backing her – Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and sitting President Joe Biden. Hilary Clinton who lost the presidency to the same Trump in 2016 amidst a false campaign of leaking confidential documents was also there to back her.

But Harris lost her steam towards the close of the campaign as both candidates campaigned intensively in the seven battlegrounds that Biden took all in 2020 and both made Pennsylvania, the pivot of the electoral college vote with nineteen votes, their main battleground, visiting it as many times as possible.
Yet Trump trounced in most of the battlegrounds topping it with the jewel in the crown Pennsylvania.
It was nothing but the spirit of Donald Trump, whom his father Fred Trump thought was unfit to inherit the $200 million empire of the Realty Sector he built up in New Jersey and packed him off to a military school favouring his other son Fred Trump Junior. But Donald Trump never felt home sick but grew stronger, anchored his stature, and returned home a triumphant soldier worthy of being nominated by his father to the empire. So, to speak, Donald Trump had a silver spoon in his mouth to grow his fortune. His ambition was to anchor himself as a successful businessperson in Manhattan and the trump Towers next to Tiffanys was the jewel in the crown with its plus ambience that stunned people of the time. But his one dream of being closeted with the elite of the New York Manhattan district was never realized, he was rejected by the top realtors and top creme da la creme of the New York upper echelons of society for being a brash, not sophisticated enough, and an aggressive guy with no scruples to be let into the club.
The rejection made him even more strong and his ambitions to be somebody in New York much stronger propelling him into a veritable position of masculinity that he occupied the front pages of the tabloids of Manhattan for 30 years at a stretch without being in Washington.

Confidence Paid

Trump questioned the legitimacy of Barack Obama being the president as he alleged, he had never shared his birth certificate with the people who elected him president. At a meeting in Washington Trump was invited to brush shoulders with the famous and powerful here Obama delivered a powerful speech often taking jibes at his detractor Trump who was livid and red in the face and that was the day he decided “I Shall be president of the USA one day”.

That’s when he threw his hat in the ring in 2016 to oppose the successful legacy left behind by one of the iconic presidents of America Bill Clinton who lifted the middle class to heights they have never imagined when daily wages soared to $21 an hour, called the Golden Period of American Democracy. Clinton fielded his wife secretary of state Hilary Clinton to complete the task he had left unfinished as George W Bush took over from him and enjoyed two terms, thanks mainly to his VP Dick Cheney, the shadow president who took all crucial decisions including the decision to enter Iraq to get Saddam Hussein.
Trump’s counter punch and his philosophy that he is never wrong, can never be wrong, and speak confidently over others was the hallmark of his success as a politician that jockeyed him into the president’s post the first time in 2016. But his utter mismanagement of covid nineteen in which 500,000 people died and five million were affected and not listening to experts including his advisor Anthony Fauci, who was fired later, got him into strike three with Biden. But he called the election stolen with no evidence that the courts threw it out. He was seething for revenge and he finally got it in 2024 when he was propelled into popularity in the last stages of the campaign on his two rhetorical themes – Biden had failed the economy, do you want to live another four years of that mess again as Harris is an extension, the economy had tanked with grocery prices ruling high,

The stakes were very high for Trump, to get rid of all the legal cases against him and the major one of conspiracy to overturn the verdict of 81% of the population that had voted Bien, the molestation case against author jean e Carrol, the hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels, and the tax fraud case in Manhattan. As the 47th president of the United States he will pardon himself and make the cases go away. But one case still sticks. He was charged with nineteen others including his legal counsel and former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani under the RICO act in the courts of Atlanta which is not a federal case but a state case.

The Game is over

That case will run its full course, but he has good chances of clearing himself of that because Georgia voted for him and the public opinion is with him. RICO was applied to gangsters like Al Capone of Chicago. In full form it meant Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organization. A profoundly serious charge applied for the first time to an e president of the country. He denied all the charges against him though most of his associates turned against him including his legal counsel Michel Cohen who testified against him saying he paid $300,000 to Stormy Daniels to buy her silence weeks before the 2016 campaign of Trump. He also testified against him saying he inflated his assets to $6.5 billion dollars when market value was only $3 billion dollars to secure loans at discounted rates as also insurance premia that got him convicted by Judge Arthur Engoron. Who said he cannot practice business in Manhattan for the next five years, destroying his credibility as a businessperson and the fines imposed on him such as $350 million put a big hole in his wallet. New York attorney general Ms Letitia James who started the case from even before Biden became president went for Trump’s jugular and demanded a compensation of $950 million and several gag orders were issued against him by different courts in four jurisdictions.
But what hurt him most rather than the litany of ninety-one counts of felony of election interference. A Congressional subcommittee headed by Bennie ‘Thomson, a senator from Massachusetts and co-chair Lix Cheney, daughter of former VP Dick Cheney, a congress woman from Wyoming, indicted him of gross negligence and inciting the crowd to attack the American citadel of democracy, the Capitol Hill, endangering the lives of senators and congressmen inside and it had to be is VP Mike Pence who called in the National Guard to quell the violence created by Proud Boys, three percenters and another motley group of rabid activists who took to violence.
why I am recounting all this is because none of this ever stuck with the voters. Trump claimed he was a victim of a massive witch hunt by Joe Biden to discredit him from running for presidency again. Biden kept saying Trump was a threat to democracy. None of this resonated with Trump’s legions of voters who are in his mould and believe that he can never be wrong. That I can never be wrong is the spirit of trump that never depressed him or brought him down and he fought an election where candidates changed guard and he was fighting an opponent 18 years younger than him full of gusto and his charge of Biden not being in control of his cognitive functions reversed and boomeranged on hm.
Trump won on two major counts that resonated well with voters across the aisles, not just his supporters. The statement that if he had been president there would have been no war either in Crimea or middle east caught the attention of the Arab and Palestinian voters, the traditional voting bloc of the democrats, who turned against Harris and voted for Trump as also the urban middle class of Latino and Asian and Arab voters who found the economy was tanking with high prices which made life difficult for the urban middle class – mainly the main wage earner the Men.
Abortion was a major issue but only 14% of voters, women, threw in their lot with Harris. That was not enough.
What next is the question? His policy of deportation of all undocumented immigrants costing over $10 billion to the exchequer, will be able to carry it out or leave a wall unfinished as in his first term. Sixty percent tariff on Chinese goods would hurt the American importer, making him pass on the burden to the customers who will have to pay much more substantially to what they were buying before. Economists have predicted that the average budget of an American urban middle class household would increase by $2850 a year. Can they shoulder the burden? Can he control the mortgage market for first time buyers of homes?
Abolition of income tax, if he kept the election pledge, it would bleed the exchequer of half of the $5 billion it raises as revenues for funding federal expenditure for institutions, personnel and peripheral and ancillaries that go with the government functioning. Trump has said he will drill for oil under his “Drill baby drill” program as he believes that the US is sitting on reserves that is much higher than all the OPEC countries put together.
The fossil fuel lobby especially in the power sector which is up against a mountain with green technologies such as solar energy, wind energy, ocean thermal energy and electric vehicles being ushered in by Biden to keep up with the deadlines of the UN charter and Pris Climate change and Tokyo protocols on emission control of carbons, will be happy and expect a roll back. Trump pulled out of the Parris accord in 2016 and has maintained his election campaigns in 2024 climate change is a big hoax invented by the green technology industry to do in the fossil fuel lobby.
What happens to the automobile sector which has invested heavily in the EVS. Some twenty-four automobile companies in the USA including American, Japanese, Korean, and German have poured billions into developing 240 models of EVs that were scheduled to get off the assembly lines in 2025. Will that become a dead investment, or he will allow that to continue because Elon Musk is a staunch supporter of Trump. Anyway, he is not the loser as he has exhausted his subsidies with the sale of 200,000 vehicles, the threshold for availing the credit of $3500 per vehicle and $3,750 per lithium battery used in the EV. Others will not be able to use that credit which Elon Musk will make sure as Trump’s advisor so that he stays competitive in the market even if Trump allowed the auto companies to roll their models out.
Overseas: The war in Crimea could come to an end as Trump will end it by choking arms supplies to Ukraine which could be taken over by Russia. The war in the middle east, he would look away. Trump will cut the funding to the UN which he sees as anti-American. Trump will win with his neutrality on the middle east situation, even reduce aid to Israel and bring Netanyahu to the table. Interestingly all three Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu and Vladimir Putin did not want the ceasefire or war to end or a two-state solution but stoke the flames and arms aids to Israel to continue so that the Arab voters turned against Biden-Harris combine. Approximately 50,000n innocent Palestinians most of them innocent women and children and old men died as collateral damage in the war and that enraged Arab voters in USA to turn again Biden for not calling a ceasefire despite herculean efforts by neutral Arab nations and the United Nations.
US relations with India will continue undisturbed as both Trump and Modi are good friends and they are on a first name basis. Remember the Howdy Modi in Houston. And the massive celebs Modi organized for Trump at Motera stadium in home turf Motera stadium in Ahmedabad.

Trump would try to find a balance in South Asia and Southeast Asia with Pakistan, in Europe which has turned left in France and UK, in Asia with Nepal and Maldives which are communist, he has good equations with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian supremo Vladimir Putin. Sanctions could be lifted against Russia to resume oil trade and trading in the greenback could be back.
Despite all the odds mentioned above, if Trump could make it, it was because he projected himself as a powerful alternative to the democrats on an economy that allegedly as tanking, ending wars in which America had not stakes, and keep the streets clean in American by deporting all undocumented immigrants. He projected the Macho image of America to the world as the No Nonsense man, he would do anything to protect the security and lives of Americans. And the Americans loved him for that, and he got the other side onto his bandwagon on the prices and Middle east war.
