Rumours are rife that the 7th Central Pay Commission will recommend that all central government employees should be retired from service on completion of 33 years of service or the age of 60 years, whichever is earlier. If true, it would mean that, come December 31, 2015, higher echelons across all hierarchies in the government will retire in one swoop. It would also imply that civil services aspirants would be discouraged to join at a young age as it would mean that they would be leaving in their fifties, an age at which employees are the most productive.
