WHAT would have been the result of the Bihar elections if the BJP had declared its chief ministerial candidate? Observers are convinced the scenario would have been entirely different. It is not that the BJP did not have worthy leaders in its fold, the announcement was not made just due to lack of political will. Insiders reveal that, in the midst of the elections, the BJP top brass suddenly decided to announce its chief ministerial candidate. They say two lakh posters were printed, bearing photos of Amit Shah, Modi and the chief ministerial candidate. When the bales of posters were about to be taken from the printing press for pasting on walls, the order came to hold them back. The chief ministerial candidate was Hukum Deo Narain Yadav, a Backward leader and MP from Madhubani. It would have been a master stroke. It would have shifted the Yadav votes to the BJP as Hukum Deo’s image is clean and he is known as an outspoken and hardworking leader. So who blocked the move and why? It’s still a mystery but insiders reveal signs of the emergence of another leader within the BJP.
