Why is there an eerie silence from Priyanka Gandhi who has been virtually in hibernation and incommunicado for the last couple of months?
This is the million dollar question agitating congress men through the length and breadth of the party.
Highly placed sources say she has decided to lie low till at least the Bihar elections and will only reveal her next move after that.
There are those who aver that she blames a senior leader close to Rahul Gandhi for her husband Robert Vadra’s legal troubles with the Enforcement Directorate as he is being repeatedly summoned by them for questioning in his alleged various land deals and other cases.
She is understood to have confided that there is a conspiracy to keep her grounded and in check by elements within the Congress Party.
Some leaders believe that the senior leader close to Rahul Gandhi could not have acted against Priyanka and Robert without the consent of Rahul Gandhi while others argue that he passionately loves his sister. 
Despite the love between the brother and sister it is also a fact that she has been an AICC General Secretary without portfolio (read without work) for almost two years and this according to her smacks of a huge conspiracy.
During the elections she has been campaigning for the party but that is as far as she has been active. She did not attend the AICC session where all senior leaders were present in Ahmedabad on 8-9 April 2025. This raised eyebrows in the rank and file and left many questions unanswered.
Many of her loyalists and campwallahs have defected and chosen survival and upward mobility to tying their fate with Priyanka. This indicates which way the wind is blowing in the party.
There is also speculation in the Congress that some secretaries and others who were her appointees and her campwallahs are on the way to being shown the door, as and when the next reshuffle of the AICC takes place.
A senior leader in the party says that there is insecurity amongst the Rahul loyalist that an active and pro active Priyanka could spell trouble for many of them and that’s why it is wiser to keep her on the periphery of Congress palace politics and the power play which is currently in play.

It is also understood that after these developments she has moved close to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge who like her is also a sufferer of Rahul Gandhi’s right hand man who has been given a completely free run, to make appointments, take decisions and act on behalf of Gandhi. 
Sources say Priyanka Gandhi is aware of the unhappiness of a number of leaders and a battalion of workers at the manner in which the party is being run by certain leaders in the name of Rahul Gandhi.
After becoming an Member of Parliament from Kerala Priyanka is keeping a close watch on developments in the state and frequently meets leaders from the state and attends meetings there and this does not suit many of the leaders particularly those close to Rahul who are aspiring for the Chief Ministership of the state despite not having the support of large chunks of party men in the state.
An interesting parallel scenario has developed in the congress!!!
