So wrote William Shakespeare, even as he delved into a certain madness and helplessness that grips lovers. This is especially true about powerful people in love. For example, a prominent BJP leader from Maharashtra has fallen head-over-heels for a widow, whose late husband was a Mumbai-based journalist and friend of the new lover. Speculation was rife within government and BJP circles about this new love that had bloomed in the air, but people were reluctant to name the leader or lady because of the sensitivities involved. Alas, the flower of love was nipped in the bud. The wife of the BJP leader got a whiff of the scent, and she disliked it intensely. She was shocked and stunned, but decided to act decisively. She complained to those who manage sensitive affairs in the North and South Blocks. Even the wife’s brother, who has his own power base within the ruling regime, expressed his extreme anger. But the smitten politician doesn’t seem to have given up!
