If Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister of India, the person whose life will be changed forever is his wife, Jashodaben Chimanlal Modi. Modi publicly accepted her as his wife after almost 45 years while filing his nomination for the Vadodara Lok Sabha seat. The vital issue before the security agencies will be the protection of Jashodaben. As per sources, the Special Protection Group (SPG), which protects the Prime Minister, ex-Prime Ministers and their immediate family members, is discussing the issue of Jashodaben’s security. The SPG virtually takes over the security of the would-be Prime Minister 72 hours before the leader takes the oath, but much before that the drill to gather info on the VIPs and their kith and kin starts. As per sources, the Intelligence Bureau and SPG are working out how if Modi becomes Prime Minister, his family members will be protected. The peculiarity of Modi’s family is that while he lives in the Chief Minister’s bungalow in Gandhinagar, his wife stays in a small town of Gujarat, Brahmanwada, about 20 km from Unjha (Mehsana district), with her brother. If Jashodaben does not move with her huband, the SPG has to make arrangements and depute its officers there to protect her even if she refuses the protection. The SPG Blue Book does not allow for leaving the protectee at his/her will.
