Search for vigilance bosses

The post of the Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) and Vigilance Commissioner (VC) are very important for serving officers. KV Chowdary, CVC, and TM Bhasin, VC, are both demitting office soon. The Government has advertised the post with the last date to submit applications being May 31, 2019. There are lot of candidates who wish to join the prestigious institution but political bosses are busy due to the general elections. The new CVC and VC will hold office for a four-year term or till the age of 65 years.

The CVC and Vigilance Commissioner are chosen from serving officers of the All India Services or other civil services. The officers who held or are currently holding the rank of a union secretary or equivalent will be preferred for the post. For applicants from PSUs, candidates need to hold the rank of a chief executive officer in a schedule “A” central public sector enterprise or served as a whole time director for three years. According to government rules, the CVC is not allowed to seek any re-appointment whereas the Vigilance Commissioner is allowed to apply for the post of the CVC. For those from the private sector, an applicant must have held or is holding the rank of a Managing Director or CEO, and be a whole time director of the board for at least three years. “All applicants should have at least 25 years of experience in the relevant fields,” the DoPT notification dated March 29, said. It’s a good post-retirement job which not only gives a status but fetches a good income. The CVC receives the same salary and allowance as that of the chairman of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). For the Vigilance Commissioner, the salary and allowances will be the same as Member, UPSC.
